Last Thursday morning we made a special breakfast treat to celebrate spending a long weekend in New York City!  We were all very excited to go so I thought it was a perfect time to try a fun and easy breakfast idea that I was pretty certain my boys would LOVE!  Since we weren’t leaving until after lunch, why not make the morning as festive as the anticipation of fun in the big city?  So let me share our breakfast celebration…so easy you could even do it on a school morning!  Maybe a first-day-back idea?  Have a peek at the ooey, gooey sweetness…

celebrate in cinnamon roll style!

before we headed out for a weekend of family fun…we had a mini celebration in the kitchen!  all it took was a can of cinnamon rolls and all the toppings for waffles!  yes, we made cinnamon roll waffles!  YUM!  after popping open the Pillsbury tube, we unrolled each sticky bun and cut them in half…

and then re-rolled them into miniature versions and plopped them on the waffle maker!  your fingers do get pretty sticky…but it’s worth it!

i suppose you could put the entire roll on the griddle but i wanted the boys to experiment with the toppings so i figured smaller was better!  the half-sized rolls made wonderful mini waffles!

a cloudy morning kept the kitchen dark…but the sweet aroma made spirits bright!  so we gathered some toppings…

and had some fun!  a sprinkle of sugar…

how about a dollup of cream?

the only thing missing was some fresh fruit…but since we were leaving, my fridge shelves were bare!  i don’t think anyone felt cheated though…do you think they could have spread on the icing any thicker!?

it WAS a celebration after all!  this cinnamon treat was a big hit…SO tasty and SO easy to clean up after!  fun for all to prepare and eat!  it was a festive way to have…

a sweet NY send off!
