A Moroccan Soiree!

There are two things I love to do when having a dinner party…dining outdoors and serving up some Moroccan delights!  My husband lived in Morocco as a child while his father worked for the government.  They were fortunate to have a cook during their time there and learned to love the native cuisine!  When we got married, one of our most cherished gifts from his parents was a Moroccan cookbook, but written inside on many of the pages were the original recipes of the talented lady who taught them to love the food there!  We’ve been making those recipes ever since…in fact, I’m not sure we’ve actually ever tried one of the recipes from the actual book!  My boys have grown up like my husband, loving the flavors and the tradition of dining Moroccan!  I’m so thrilled to share with you today another party I styled for Black Twine…a Moroccan soiree!  You can grab the blueprint for the party with all the time-saving tips, links to get the goodies and even get some of my family’s favorite recipes…straight from well used pages of our cherished book!  Come share the fun…

dine in the outdoors…Moroccan style!

send an invite…

pretty invitations by Bella Grey Designs are always a lovely way to set the mood but also let guests know what’s in store…

on the floor!

what i love best about Moroccan style dining is the fact that you sit on the floor!  but you’ll need something for guests to sit on–small rag rugs & drop cloth canvas made comfy and inexpensive, DIY floor cushions!

Moroccan soiree

stay clean!

another Moroccan tradition…eating with your hands!  hand sanitizing wipes are perfect for cleaning up before eating AND after!

Moroccan party

cute stickers label the bags filled with towelettes…

Moroccan party

favors & flowers!

little candle holders made pretty vases to attach the place cards…and they can do double-duty as wonderful favors too!

Moroccan party

pretty blooms add to the colorful table which is filled with a blend of colors & patterns…

Moroccan party

light it up!

and since this was an outdoor soiree i wanted to add more enchantment to the evening by hanging a chandelier over the table…

Moroccan soiree

this beauty from Amalfi Decor adds such wonderful ambiance for a lovely ladies night!  if you don’t have a chandelier you could try lanterns for another beautiful effect!

Moroccan party

let’s eat!

Moroccan meals are fairly simple in nature…one-pot tagines are commonly served!

Moroccan dinner party

herb-filled meatballs are wonderful to sop up with plenty of crusty bread!

Moroccan tagine

green beans flavored with garlic, cumin and cinnamon are delicious and healthy!

simple sweet end…

Moroccan desserts usually consist of fruit, sweet salads, and shortbread cookies or biscuits.  i filled a cart in the garden path with fruit and an assortment of date cookies…

Moroccan party

in our experience, we eat so much of the delicious dinner that there’s not much room for dessert!

Moroccan party

sweetened, hot tea is often served with dessert so i added some pretty Moroccan style glasses for sipping after the meal…

Moroccan party

as the skies dim, the chandelier will shine over a table where guests will want to linger!

I love that you talked about how the candles and holder with vases and cards would be a nice way to double-duty as favors as well. I would consider that when I have a small celebration for my birthday this coming December. So I should probably start looking for a product that I like, and I actually want to try checking indoor metal Moroccan candle lantern products as well if they would be a good fit for my theme.
