Shot Through the Heart!

While wandering around in Target…(I swear you can get as much inspiration there as you can by scrolling through Pinterest boards!)…I stumbled upon these adorable Arrow & Heart Kits for kids to to craft with.  They consisted of simplistic foam shapes, intended for small hands, but I LOVED the idea!  And after purchasing some of the sweetest paper hearts at one of my other favorite places (Alice-Louise Press), I knew right then exactly what I was going to do with them!  Have a look at these fun and whimsical arrows, shot through the pretty paper hearts that will crown some dinner plates for a Valentine’s Day Meal!

DIY holiday place cards…

a simple Valentine dinner with some girlfriends has been on my calendar and i’m SO looking forward to it!  i love having opportunities to gather together and catch up on all the happenings taking place in the busy lives we seem to have these days!  and since it’s a holiday week, i really wanted to make it special…inspired by those kid’s craft sets, i got on the task of creating some whimsical place cards for my table!

these adorable paper hearts from alicelouise-press would be so cute in so many ways…

but mixed with some fun straws, feathers, and paper flags…it’s easy to make them into holiday arrows!

make two holes on each side with a paper punch…

thread a paper straw through…

and use some paper triangles to make the point.  i already had several pre-cut bunting flags leftover from a past craft…some looked like triangles already and the others were easily cut to make a new shape.  of course you can use a paper punch or scissors to cut a tip for your arrow…but by all means, if you’ve got something that works–use it!

a little glue is all you need to add the tip…easy!

and a craft feather is just pushed into the opposite end…no gluing necessary!

then you can have a little more fun embellishing your arrows however you wish!  since mine are place cards, i printed off the names and glued them on to the top with some extra hearts…

let’s set the table!

i’ve had these darling Valentine salad/dessert plates for years…and LOVE to have the chance to use them!

i thought it would be fun to add these photo props (from Target) to the centerpiece…it might make for some festive memories! and i didn’t have any color-coordinating place mats for my tabletop so to take the place of colorful linens, i just used some die-cut shapes to make cute table scatter!  (and the extra hearts came in handy on the arrows too!)

even though it’s a Valentine gathering…it’s reminding me of spring!

simple, easy, and i still think it will make my guests smile!

i hope this small gesture makes my pals feel like Cupid’s taken aim…
