Spare Room Share…

After my little revelation last week I really did decide to make the best of what I’ve got…and what I’ve got is no room to craft!  But no matter, my spare bedroom has served as my “craft room” for years and with the exception of having to box up all my stuff when guests stay over (or just put my parents in that room…they’re used to the organized chaos!), the spare room/craft room has work out pretty well!  So I decided to spruce it up a bit, make it a little more organized, and make it look like it was intended to be this way all along!  I may not be able to have this entire space dedicated to crafting…but I can certainly make the best of it!  All it took was some cleaning, organizing, and finding items to contain lots of trinkets!  I only made a couple purchases to keep my supplies tidy so the bed could be free from boxes of buttons or whatever else is stacked upon the mattress!  All in all, I’m pretty happy with the results!  And I’m thrilled to say that plenty was re-purposed so that I didn’t just save money but created unique storage options that are as fun to look at as they are useful…which makes for a happy space to get creative in!  If i want, I can kick back on the bed for some “creative relaxation” too!  Have a peek at my spare room that shares a bit of…

my creative side

our house is old…so not only do we have some rooms that aren’t very big, but they also don’t have overhead lighting and sometimes even closets!  which is the case with the spare room…no closet.  that’s sort of problematic when it serves double duty as a craft space needing PLENTY of storage options!  it would be nice to take the beds out entirely and have its sole purpose be a crafting haven…but we like to have family visit as often as possible and it just makes sense to keep our extra twin beds for when we have a house full!  so for now, it’s a room that must share…and if you overlook the tool-crate sitting on the bedside table, it actually looks like an ordinary, unassuming bedroom when you first walk in…

some extra Giggle pillows may still find themselves sitting on the beds…but you can actually sit (or lie down) now!

Giggle pillows

an old bookcase from our attic holds all the supplies that i want hidden in boxes…but also shows off the tin doll house on top that now organizes all sorts of treasures!

craft room storage

this is a great space to get a little whimsical!  i love my tin, heart shelf and it looks adorable even when it’s filled with pretty boring supplies like needles & thread, pins, wire, and twine!  it’s still fun to look at no matter what’s on it!

and at the end of the bed, one of my purchases that i should have made a LONG time ago…a rolling cart from Ikea!

spare room/craft room

i LOVE this cart to hold all my buttons…and at under $30 i’m wondering what i was waiting for!  it easily rolls to wherever i need it and keeps everything accessible!

and just a couple steps away…my craft table!

craft room

squeezed in behind the door and the end of the other bed…this over-sized table barely fits but give me plenty of space to work AND a surface for guests to place their belongings!  a pushpin board, some glass containers, trays, and lucite organizers keep everything tidy at the table…(not to mention the storage boxes hidden underneath)

i love having a memo board in a creative room–to hold plenty of inspiration!

this jewelry box is ACTUALLY being used as a jewelry box…with the exception that these sparkles will soon be reinvented!

crafting storage

perhaps as a magnet set for one of my Giggle magnet boards…

and i keep plenty of pretty glasses and jars to hold ordinary supplies…it just make me happy to organize this way!

the clear containers make it so easy to see what’s there…AND when my supplies are getting low!

but one of my favorites in the room…the “G” for Giggle peg board!  this was the other new purchase for the room and i found it in the clearance section of Hobby Lobby!  i love it for those things that just need to hang…and the fun, pop of color doesn’t hurt!

so when i’m feeling like getting crafty, i can pull up the chair and roll my cart over…

and share the spare room!

What a great way to organize a room! I absolutely adore your pillow with the rabbit/rabbit’s tail!!! Is that something that Giggle Living sells?

Thank you!! Yes, the bunny pillow in the photo is my prototype but I will have some at Alice-Louise Press soon! And you can always get in touch with me directly if you ever want one! I’m working on a way to have the tail detachable (it’s wool) so that you can still easily wash the cover…but I think I have it figured out!
