Country Western Party Fun!

August 3

Country Western parties are classic and a theme that everyone will enjoy!  They’re perfect for summertime celebrations because of their backyard, laid-back vibe.  Inexpensive party food and simple decorations will make it easy on the host too!  My family throws a “costume” party each year and this was theme for our most recent bash.  Even though casual entertaining is normally how I like to roll, stepping it up once in a while is always a fun experience.  Extra party fluff can still be easy to pull off with just a little extra prep time.  I’d love to share some party tips and simple details that came together to create a really fun night!  Let’s pull on the boots and get ready to boogie…

A harvest recipe swap is a fun way to celebrate the bounties of summer AND share meal ideas with friends!  This time of year offers up so much goodness from the garden and it’s a perfect time to start thinking about fall meals.  When autumn rolls around and we have a more regular dinner schedule, I often run out of new ideas and get in a cooking rut! But by gathering some girlfriends around a harvest-inspired table, we can enjoy good company while sharing some of our tried-and-true favorites!  I’m always excited to expand my menu ideas and try something new…and while finding recipes I’d like to share, I often turn up old faves I’d forgotten about!  So call your pals, grab some pretty recipe cards, and decorate a casual table letting the garden be your guide!  I hope you love this late-summer inspiration today…

A doughnut celebration board sounds pretty good right? So how about making one for your next special occasion! I recently created a yummy platter for my son’s 18th birthday…and it was filled with one of his favorite treats…doughnuts!  Grazing or charcuterie boards are so fun and trendy right now and they’re really easy to make too!  They look pretty and allow you to serve a menagerie of treats so you can even please a crowd…when it’s safe to do so!  But today we’ll focus on this sweet breakfast idea and how I made it fun for our family birthday festivities.  This doughnut celebration board was a really fun surprise that started the birthday boy’s day off on a delicious note!  Let me show you how easy it is to create one…

Christmas cookie decorating is such an anticipated tradition for so many holiday lovers! I always look forward to baking days and often have several cookie decorating dates with family AND friends!  It’s easy to make cookies ahead, freeze them, and have them ready when you want to make Christmas memories!  I know my boys have enjoyed this tradition over the years so I was so excited to partner with Party Mazing and Grand Rapids Popcorn to bring you some inspiration for hosting a cookie decorating party designed for the kiddos!  Even luckier for me…having friends who’s littler tots could partake in the fun!  So let’s get right to it today and share in the sweet festivities!

A lemonade stand simply reminds me of summer!  Those hot and carefree days that only a cup of this icy cold treat can quench!  You can whip up a pitcher of lemonade any day of the week and bring smiles…but it’s also a wonderful drink to serve at celebrations!  It looks pretty, tastes great, and it seems to be a seasonal favorite for kids and adults alike!  I’m really excited to partner with Fun to Eat Fruit to show you some lemonade stand inspiration that is super easy but has little details that make this beverage station perfect for all kinds of summer festivities!  Let’s squeeze the day and serve up summer!

Super Bowl Sunday is just days away and it happens to be one of my family’s most awaited game nights…for the good food, football fun…and the commercials of course!  Each year we whip up a big batch of wings and nestle in for a warm & cozy evening in!  Sometimes it’s just us, sometimes we include friends…but either way, we celebrate a festive evening of heart-pounding fun! (even though my youngest is really the only TRUE sports enthusiast in the family!)   Shortly before kickoff I set up a cheerful spread of traditional game day goodies…but this year I’m adding a good dose of healthy to the table!  And even though the boys in the house will require some wings on the menu, I’m really excited to share these healthier options that will be a definite win!

If you’re like me, you may be torn between the seasons…but you can have some fun combining them both with a colorful fall table!  The first signs of autumn are exciting and yet I’m not quite ready to completely let summer go…so I decided to mix it up and add bits of both seasons  to a late-summer early-fall celebration!  Bright florals, lots of pretty patterns, tiny pumpkins, and a touch of glam were the elements used to set an eclectic table to serve up tiny tea cakes to my friends.  I hope you enjoy these simple ideas for a cheerful welcome to the new season!

Good Cheer!

Now that the hustle & bustle of holiday celebrations has ended, decorations have come down and winter has whole-heartily revealed itself…the rest of the season can seem a tad boring.  Many people confess how sad they are when the decorations are gone and their houses suddenly appear empty…I know both Sarah & I feel that way in our own homes!  And spending so much time indoors during these long, cold winter days doesn’t help.  So I was thinking, why should all the merriment disappear with the the holidays?  Why not invite some cheerful whimsy to hang out in your home a bit longer?  All it takes is a little holiday recycling!  By using some of the decorations from past seasons, the buffet in my dining room is dressed up with some sparkle and cheer!  A very easy way to be ready to accommodate guests on a whim with little preparation…and it looks festive too!  Fill the evenings of winter with warmth and fellowship of friends…

and keep the good cheer going!
