Wrap Station

I’ve barely begun to shop for all my Christmas gifts this year.  When the kids were little I usually had everything purchased by Thanksgiving, wrapped, and hidden shortly thereafter!  Well, those days are certainly over!  It seems the older they get the busier we are…AND they either can’t come up with ideas for their wish lists or keep changing their minds!  So, I have yet to purchase one thing for my children…but I sure am ready to wrap!  Whether you’ve finished your shopping, are somewhere in the middle, or have not yet begun, creating a fun place to wrap up those treasures can make the holiday feel more merry!  It can be stressful to shop AND it can be stressful to wrap…but I find when I gather my supplies together before I start, the process is so much more joyful!  And since last week I shared some creative ways to wrap up your goodies I thought it would be fitting to share some simple ways to keep organized so you can enjoy the season!

pull out the wrappings…it’s Christmastime!

i usually use one of my craft tables for my gift wrapping duties.  it’s close to most of my office supplies like scissors and tape, near a television set ( for popping in a holiday movie), and centrally located in my home so i don’t feel hidden away!  to keep it enjoyable, i recommend finding an area that makes you feel happy…that’s half the battle!  it really doesn’t matter where you work–a dining table, a bed, or even the floor!  gather your supplies in a basket or box so you have what you need by your side!

i love this old, metal bin a friend gave to me!  i attached casters to the bottom (with the help of my hubby) and now i can roll it anywhere i’m wrapping!  it holds gift bags, boxes, tissue, some ribbon, and paper…right at my fingertips!  not to mention that it looks cute too so i can leave it sit right out in the open if i want!

i don’t normally tuck my scissors and tape in the bin…we use those things daily.  but a small basket or tray can hold all those utilitarian supplies so they can be transported to wherever you need them!  some extras that i like to keep on hand are cute spools of twine and yarn, both inexpensive & useful items that i can use all year round.  and i also love to pick up whimsical ornaments to tie to the top of some of my gifts!

i’m particularly fond of these little gnomes i found a while back at Home Goods…

and i love using jewelry organizers for keeping other supplies tidy!  this container is great since i can see what’s there at a glance…tags, clips, and jingle bells!

organizing supplies

i picked up this little storage container at a garage sale and love it for holding extra tags and stickers…

for me, keeping all my supplies where i can see them, and easily get to them makes the task of wrapping so much more fun and a lot less stressful!

i will now try to begin the task of shopping so i can turn on A Christmas Carol and wrap, wrap, wrap to my hearts content!

time for packages and string!

happy wrapping!
