Homemade Holiday Dog Treats!

If you have a doggie member of the family then you know how fun it is to treat them to special goodies…just like we do for all our loved ones!  They deserve special “desserts” from time-to-time…so why not have some fun in the kitchen and whip up a batch of homemade treats for the pups in your life!  It’s a fun thing for the kiddos to help with too…and they’ll have such a good time serving the “sweets” to their four-legged family members!  I’ve never tried making homemade dog treats before, but a friend shared a recipe that sounded so easy that I thought I’d give it a whirl!  It was so fun to make them…and Buddy (our pup) loved gobbling them up too!  So if you have a dog or know a dog lover…you might want to give this recipe a try!

fill cupcake liners about 3/4 full (they won’t rise much like a traditional cupcake) and bake at 350 degrees for the time indicated on the box mix or until firm and golden…

WARNING:  they will smell delicious so advise any unsuspecting, human family members to refrain from indulging!

once they’ve cooled you can make the icing…

stir approximately 1 cup of peanut butter with 1/3-1/2 cup pumpkin.  you don’t want it to be too runny!

then top your cake with a dollop and a doggie biscuit!  i love these gingerbread men…how perfect for the holidays!

the icing should be firm enough to hold your little treat…so just plop him right on top!
