A January centerpiece is lovely to create especially after all the holiday magic is packed away until next December. The New Year is the perfect time for a refresh in the home, with simplicity and calm…and a centerpiece that represents that feeling can take the stage on the table for everyone to enjoy! Today I’d like to share a simple DIY that incorporates natural elements that nod to winter and spring. This make the perfect January display until you’re ready for Valentines Day or all the pretty spring blooms to take over. Dark, snowy days can be brightened with live houseplants that simply remind us that a new season is on the way! But until it arrives, we can still enjoy the coziness of winter in a fresh way.
I took a blogging break this fall through the holidays and it was the perfect time to rediscover the direction of projects I’ll be sharing this year. You’ll still see easy entertaining and decorating inspo but focused on reusing, recycling, and even foraging for simple beauties found in nature. Treasure hunting is also a personal passion and I’ll incorporate those finds more in all my celebrations and home projects. Recent trips to France have reinvigorated my enthusiasm for utilizing all my well loved, collected items that might become family heirlooms. Not because they’re worth so much monetarily but because they’ve helped create treasured memories…in finding them AND using them! Vintage pieces somehow make time feel like it slows even just for an evening. So these are the things I will hold dear in 2026 and look forward to sharing with you! Now, let’s get back to the simple centerpiece made easy with elements of nature tucked in…
let nature shine!
to create an easy but eye-catching centerpiece, try filling a tray or platter with tiny plants and whatever natural items you might have on hand…

you don’t need an abundance of supplies either!

here’s what i used:
a vintage tray
4 tiny fresh plants
clay pots
moss
pinecones
antlers
candles

i chose to drop my plants in tiny pots. i didn’t even replant them so i can easily reuse them in a planter later!
decor options:
if you don’t have clay pots, try small kitchen bowls, ramekins or cute jars. you could even use a large bowl rather than a tray and cover the plastic pots with more moss or paper shred. whatever you have on hand! if you can’t easily remove the plants to water them, be sure the container you use can withstand water.
craft stores will always have varieties of moss, pinecones, pods, or small twigs. all of which would look lovely tucked in. but take a walk in your yard before you go shopping!

little clusters of pinecones add texture and make a pretty detail…

decor note:
in this centerpiece i used antlers i’ve had in my stockpile. pretty, but not a necessary item to make a lovey display. add extra candles instead or a rustic decoration you love. making a centerpiece unique to you is half the fun of creating it!
all the items are casually placed on the tray…it’s really easy to do! just fill in the gaps with the moss.

a few simple items always look grand when displayed together! another bonus of using a tray? you can move it closer to sunlight on the dreary days!

never underestimate natural items to bring beauty to the table…literally!

happy creating, foraging, and slowing down to appreciate the beauty all around us!
Cheers to 2026!!
pin for later~
