Even though Easter is late this year…it’s never too soon for you-know-who to start hoppin’ his way into your decor!  Besides, this winter has been a rough one all around so signs of spring can’t come soon enough…and if it’s dragging its feet outside we can give it a nudge indoors!  See how Peter Cotton tail hopped his way into my home leaving simple signs of Easter to lift our spirits until spring is here to stay…

The nice thing about decorating for holidays or any celebration is that you can be whimsical, have a little fun and enjoy it–it’s only temporary after all!  One of our favorite ways to decorate at Giggle, and in each of our personal homes, is with paper!  Whether it’s a banner, tissue poms & tassels, or simple garlands, paper is a lovely and very inexpensive way to get creative for your celebrations!  Here’s an example of a simple Valentine garland made from craft paper & strung with twine–every bit as lovely as store-bought without the price tag!  And when you make it yourself, it fits your style and personality just perfectly!

Winter is the perfect time to freshen and organize your home so when spring finally reveals itself the indoor jobs are done!  A fresh coat of paint does wonders…whether it updates walls or revitalizes a great piece of furniture, paint is a great way to breathe new life into a room!  It’s funny how a little bit of paint gets you motivated to clean, organize and rearrange your room in a way that feels brand new!  Here is the tale of two dressers that with a fresh coat of white brought new life to a room…

Today seemed like a great day to share a sweet and very simple idea for a window treatment!  Now that the holidays are over it’s that time to revamp and reorganize our homes…and though it’s nice to start fresh, I definitely miss the fun and whimsy of the holiday decorations–but why should we loose all the fun in our decor just because the festivities have ended!?  At Giggle and at home, we love to add a fanciful side to ordinary decorating…it’s often so easy to do and can create such an enchanting atmosphere!   Try this easy idea for a new twist on a simple window treatment…

It’s often fun to decorate a mantle…especially during holidays!  You may remember me saying however, that I struggle with my mine…it’s been a love/hate relationship that has gone on for years!  Well, while hashing out ideas with Sarah for all our holiday happenings–an idea occurred…I’ve had so much fun with my chalkboard wall in the kitchen–why not over the mantle?  Sarah enthusiastically encouraged me to try it–it’s only paint after all!  So here’s an idea for something unexpected & a new favorite thing–a chalkboard mantle!  It can change with the seasons, it was inexpensive and most importantly, it’s a lot of fun!

chalk one up for the holidays!

Wrap It Up!

Gift giving is just around the corner…and that means gift wrapping is upon us!  A daunting task for some of us…wrapping quickly in closets, during naps or school hours…a joyous occasion can quickly take a wrong turn!  Well, while some wrapping needs to happen in secret…a neat, orderly place in which to spread out, keep organized and get creative makes the entire process much more enjoyable!  After all, Christmas is a time to be rejoicing!  A wrapping station is a place where the entire family can get in on the action…sprucing up gifts for friends, neighbors, & teachers and anyone else on your list!  It can be a place to craft, decorate cookies…you name it!  So try making the task of wrapping as fun as its counterpart on Christmas morning!

that’s a wrap!

It’s time to decorate with all the spooky splendor you can imagine!  Halloween is such a great holiday to get creative and never worry about the perfect outcome of design!  In fact, often times the less perfect is more perfect…does that make sense?  Let loose and have fun with this one!  Bringing smiles to kids and adults alike, Halloween should never be taken too seriously!  By recycling crows used outside last year, my mantle was given a thrifty Halloween makeover…see what’s in your attic and play…

Little Jars Hanging…

Sometimes the most simple of things can be so lovely!  With summer winding down, we need to enjoy the beauty of the last remaining blooms in any way we can!  A simple mason jar or any other glass container can make a lovely vessel for a suspended arrangement!  Garden twine or wire will do to hang these small bouquets from just about anywhere…a tree, a trellis…anywhere your heart desires!  No need to be fancy, they do the job all by themselves…

couldn’t be easier to create a lovely mood…

A baseball themed party was the “extra inning” finish for a fun season of Little League Ball!  With lots of Giggle Glitter, this party was a big success despite a few lingering showers!  We certainly had fun with lots of baseball lingo and simple decorations…just right for this casual celebration!

Summer should be full of moments to just kick back and relax!  I know, I know, not many of us often have that luxury– but once in a great while we should all try it…I believe it does wonders for sanity and patience levels!  Last year we bought a hammock at a garage sale and it was one of the best family purchases we ever made!
