Workshop and pantry storage isn’t something I would normally share. But if you’re someone who has lots of craft supplies, home & holiday decor, party supplies, entertaining staples or anything needing a special spot, this might be for you! Not many have entered into my basement storage and crafting areas, but after sharing a peek on social media, I had requests to see more. My storage areas aren’t fancy. They reside in the basement of our over 100 year old home. So it’s safe to say they’re not remodeled, beautiful areas. But what they do have is a whimsical, recycled, and creative way of holding all my goodies! Because of my previous business and my years of collecting, I have saved a lot. And to be sure I can reuse my things as often as possible, they need to be visible. Not just my craft and decor supplies, but serving pieces and even food! Otherwise I buy to later realize I had something already in my arsenal! So today I’ll share how I used simple supplies and mostly what I already had to organize my crafting-storage-workspace-pantry!
let’s organize!
my old home doesn’t have much kitchen storage so here’s where i keep the overflow…

an adjacent baker’s rack is repurposed as a place to hold items i don’t use often.

and a hutch that used to be in my kitchen is now the resting place for seasonal dishes and accessories! a reminder before you discard an item to see if it has potential for new life in another area!

workspace whimsy!
right around the corner from my pantry area is the “workshop”…

a recent purchase was this flower stand. it’s perfect for keeping all my faux stems tidy & untangled!

and a smaller basket filled with canning jars keeps fragile, dried stems from getting damaged…

decor tip:
faux & dried stems (even affordable ones) can seem like an investment. by keeping them in great shape you can reuse them for years! if they’re exposed like mine you can use a soft duster to gently clean them when needed or cover them with something lightweight such as a plastic drop cloth or garbage bag.
a utilitarian peg board displays many of my hanging decorations…

wreaths, bells, garlands, etc. can stay visible here.

but i also hang long strands of ribbon. they’re easy to grab and stay more wrinkle-free!

in the middle of the room is a large, plywood table. i can get messy here painting or even potting plants!

a few tools sit here too. glue guns, paper cutters and a vintage tool (?) caddy…

tool boxes and bins are some of my favorites for storing random goodies. here i keep extra paper punches & scissors in the top and all sorts of tags in the tiny drawers!

underneath my table? storage containers full of party supplies! when we host a party i salvage what i can. not only can we recycle for future celebrations but friends borrow them too!

tubs, jars and boxes are great to fill with crafting supplies…

color or item sorting is helpful, but as long as you can see what’s in there anything goes!

there’s no container that can’t work! jars, cups, bowls…use whatever you have!

and finally, more inexpensive shelving like in the pantry helps me organize my free-standing decorations.

it’s a great way to have my eyes on what i already own.

if you have room to create a workshop, storage area or pantry i highly recommend it. you can recycle and reuse just about anything (except food) for years to come! organizing can come in many forms…
cheers to storage options!
