Antiquing We Will Go…

It’s almost time to hit the road for some antique flea markets and good old yard sales! I’m so excited that the weather has just begun to get warmer…and  I’m all geared up for the outdoor “junking”!  But on the days the rain drops are falling or the temps just aren’t “perfect”…there’s always the antique mall!  Packed with trinkets & treasures, furniture & collectibles, and almost everything you can imagine–the mall is available all year for the antique addict like me!  A stroll down the isles isn’t quite like an outdoor market…but it’s no less the fun and always full of wonder!

Inspiration For New Seasons!

It’s amazing what a little fresh air and sunshine can do for one’s soul!  A recent trip to south Florida was not only perfect for taking a breather from the mundane, every-day chores but also the ideal way to get totally inspired for the seasons to come!  Even though we returned to gray, drizzly skies–rest assured the weather is making its call to awaken the cheerful flowers and bright green foliage that lets us know spring has finally arrived!  So, I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to set out the lawn chairs and pot up some pansies…pack up the snow pants and find the flip flops…I’m ready for spring & summer and all that comes with it!

Pick a Peck!

Each October our family heads off to the apple orchard for a day of picking our favorites right from the tree!  Not only has it become a fun tradition of picking…and eventually peeling and pie baking…but an opportunity to sample some cider doughnuts, purchase pumpkins & gourds and make fond memories!  It wouldn’t be autumn for my family if we didn’t take a trip to the orchard…

Summer Memories

It’s Labor Day!  A long weekend of celebrating the final days of summer!  A much needed holiday to soak up the last festivities of all that summer represents…or an extra weekend day to work on those summer projects that took a back seat!  We’ve experienced some technical difficulties this past week as my computer decided to pick the first week of school to not work–so my family’s holiday was filled with trying to get back on line and also retrieve Giggle and personal data that may be gone forever.  But as my son tried to relieve my distress by telling me we could go back to all the places we visited and re-take all those wonderful photos, I realized that I needed a perspective check–in the end the memories are what matters and how thankful we all should be to have such lovely ones!  Therefore, our Giggle families are wishing that everyone ends their summer with the best memories of what the season holds!

Out & About

Even though summer is winding down there’s still enough time to hit the road for a quick get-away!  If the kids are back in school try a solo outing for the day or hold off for a family weekend…either way, go exploring…it’s a great way to have some fun and get inspired!  I wanted to share some “road trip” fun and show off the sweet town of Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Not only is it known for its year-round Christmas fun at the most gianormous holiday shop ever, but it’s quaint, Bavarian style architecture and picturesque views make it a “must see” if you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods!  After working up an appetite strolling through the shop-lined streets, you won’t be disappointed with the restaurants serving up some family-style fare!  Have a look at this lovely, Bavarian village…

and head on over to Frankenmuth!

Yard Sale Mania!

Once again the endless yard sale arrived on a beautiful summer weekend and certainly didn’t disappoint!  Held annually in August, these sales begin on the first Thursday and stretch from Michigan to Alabama–strewn along Highway 127 like a row of ants at a picnic!  This only being my second year to attend…though I’ve been wishing to squeeze this jaunt into my schedule for many years!  Now that I’ve caught the “127 sale fever” I believe that this is one new tradition that I’ll always try to keep!  Not only do you find amazing treasures but there’s always something new to see around every bend of the twisty road!  And since people come from all over the place there’s always new characters to meet along the way!  So take a peek at the yard sale mania and mark it on your calendar for next year…

A great way to welcome Autumn and get inspired for the season is a trip to your local apple orchard!  A family tradition in our household, this outing really gets us all excited for the fun and food that the season brings!  Apple picking is certainly fun…but the sights and smells from the cider mill & bakery are just as delightful!  A wonderful treat after a hard morning of tree climbing!  Many large orchards also have festivals and fun of their own so it’s the perfect family outing!

Enless Yard Sale…

The beginning of August brings with it the joys of the longest yard sale…miles of treasure hunting extending from Michigan to Alabama along a single stretch of highway!  This year I was fortunate enough to go on this adventure–even though I barely scratched the surface!  I honestly spent an entire day only traveling about 100 miles!  You can’t believe the amount of dealers you encounter along the roadside…I’m not sure how you could do the entire stretch even in the 4 days it is held!  None the less, it was tons of fun and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves the anticipation of found treasure at great yard sale!

some of the endless fun…
