A Space for Inspiration

When you live in a house for a few years the rooms seem to evolve…we discover how our spaces suit our needs best at the time–and undoubtedly they will change again!  My “sun room” has played many parts…a sitting area (which was a total wasted space I might add!), a mini play space for my boys, and an office.  We’ve kept the computer in that room ever since and it became a place for me to get creative, organize the business, manage household & school info, and still snuggle into a cozy seat-where I can daydream of new projects & ideas! So even though it has kind-of evolved into my workroom…it’s also a mini family room with barely enough room for two–and yet it still works perfectly!  I guess my point is, no matter the room, size of it, or what it was originally intended for–make it a space that fits your need right now…you can always change it later!  Today I want to share how my tiny sun room has evolved into something just right for me…and my family!

tiny space…big inspiration!

a sunny view for working…

officei didn’t have much space to work with, but i managed to squeeze in the things that made this room function for our family! that included a place to relax as well as be productive!  the couch makes a perfect spot to oversee homework without hoovering!

officethis is an especially popular spot…if you look closely you’ll see our puggle “buddy” taking a snooze–you can see who’s “top dog” when it comes to first dibs on the sofa!

loveseatin the cooler months i hide an electric blanket under the cable knit throw making this little, well-worn sofa the most coveted spot in the house!  another bonus–it sits directly in front of the chimney wall…why is this a popular view?  a brilliant idea from my husband…

chimney with tva small t.v. tucked into the fireplace opening!  this is a fantastic way to add media to the room without taking up more space!  needless to say, the combo of the heated blanket and the t.v. make the loveseat the most sought after spot on a saturday morning…whoever gets up first can usually be found here!

room for a collection…

the mantle works great for holding my milk glass collection…at my fingertips when i need a container and they look so pretty displayed together!

milk glassadjacent to the couch i managed to stuff in a work table on casters.  easy to move around if needed for projects, photography, homework…or even a snack!

 simple storage…

i love these paper boxes from ikea for holding supplies and documents!  not only are they inexpensive, they come in many more sizes and are simple in design so they look fresh and clean!

office storage(printed labels are a must…since my handwriting skills are less than perfect!)

i prefer real flowers over artificial…although i do own my share for those times when the fresh varieties aren’t easily available!  i do love this vase with fake purple posies for a pop of color…and it’s pretty close to the real deal!

flowersi really try to re- purpose as much as i can when it comes to storage!  the old sap bucket works wonderfully for wrapping paper and the kitchen tins for crayons & markers!

pretty desk accessories always make an office look lovely, are functional, and give your space some personality…without a huge expense! (i found the gold tape dispenser & scissors at target and the stripey pencils at t.j maxx)
