Maybe it’s the nostalgia of when I played with my own, or the fact that I couldn’t buy them for my children who happen to be boys…but I’ve always had a soft spot for doll houses! And though my youngest did play with mine when he was tiny, it has since been banished to the attic replaced by baseball bats, snails and puppy dog tails! But no matter, the trick is to always think outside the box, right? So while at a garage sale…I found one tiny house that spoke to me…and this is what it said…

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy all things frozen! A refreshing treat that cools us down on a sweaty, steamy day! We all think of ice cream cones, popcicles and milk shakes…but I often forget about the combination of two most treasured treats…ice cream & cookies…a frozen sandwich! Ice cream sandwiches are so tasty, super easy to make, and fun to get creative with! Make them up ahead and just pull them right out of the freezer–good for any time or any event! As it happens, yesterday was National Ice Cream Day–so it was fitting that a small get together with friends was a perfect time so serve up some frozen treats!

Sometimes we shop with a purpose but when it comes to junking most often you don’t know what you’re looking for until you find it! The trick to successful shopping is to keep an open mind and remember that you never need to use an object for its original purpose! And even if you don’t have any idea what to do with it–if it’s cheap enough, you have room to store it, and you love it–you should snatch it up while you have the chance! Recently, some friends of ours offered their backyard to host such an occasion–a S’mores party! It’s never easy to say “farewell” to friends but when life pulls people in different directions it offers an occasion to celebrate the bonds of friendship–letting those who are leaving know how much they were appreciated and offer well wishes for new and exciting times ahead! Sarah and another dear friend of ours did just that for two great boys who are moving from our community. Friends to both of our sons and many others, these two wonderful kids were celebrated at this festive gathering! An evening of swimming, playing and snacking was certainly enjoyed by all one last time all together! Bittersweet, of course, but a lovely way to have a joyful farewell…never goodbye!
On a hot and humid day the best way to celebrate a great Little League season is with ice cream! No matter the reason for rejoicing, an ice cream bar is a perfect way to ring in summer celebrations!
