The Fourth of July is just a few days away!  Many of us use this festive holiday to gather with family and friends for the official kick off to the dog days of summer!  Perk up your patriotic decor with a whimsical twist of dotty fun!  Polka dots are plentiful when it comes to paper products so it’s easy to search any party store for dotted plates or napkins to mix in…maybe you can find a few more ways to incorporated those happy dots for your celebration!

A Farewell Gathering…

It’s never easy to say “farewell” to friends but when life pulls people in different directions it offers an occasion to celebrate the bonds of friendship–letting those who are leaving know how much they were appreciated and offer well wishes for new and exciting times ahead!  Sarah and another dear friend of ours did just that for two great boys who are moving from our community.  Friends to both of our sons and many others, these two wonderful kids were  celebrated at this festive gathering!  An evening of swimming, playing and snacking was certainly enjoyed by all one last time all together!  Bittersweet, of course, but a lovely way to have a joyful farewell…never goodbye!

A Woodland Breakfast

A school year tradition, “Breakfast Club”, was the brilliant idea of a great gal in our community who gathers volunteers to host moms without kids in tow to a lovely–and relaxing–breakfast directly following school drop off!  A wonderful way to start the day with old and new friends sharing stories & advice, enjoying a casual morning meal, and always leaving with our share of good cheer!  Unfortunately for me, I haven’t attended many this year…so I decided to host the final gathering for the year at my home to show my support of this great tradition!  It’s always an uplifting experience and I can see why some ladies never miss it!  With the help of my co-host and friend, the final “Breakfast Club” took on a woodland theme with some simple ideas and supplies that could inspire any event…

We Love Our Teachers!

Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week–a great time to let all teachers and staff know how much we appreciate all they do!  At our school volunteer parents host an appreciation luncheon bringing all kinds of goodies for a buffet-style treat set up in our library!  It’s always fun to make it look a little special too since we want our teachers to realize how important they are in helping to mold our kids into the special people they are growing to be!  So our committee chose a picnic theme…and though the decorations were simple, they were so cute and perfect for any event I thought we would share…

With two boys, I don’t often use pink when entertaining or decorating…so when I get the chance to host some girls for any occasion…I jump on it!  An opportunity to say “thanks” to some friends helping with a project came about–and a simple picnic lunch seemed fitting for the occasion and season!  Not an elaborate event, but fun nevertheless…and a chance to “girl” it up a bit!  Here’s an easy way to throw together a sweet picnic for any situation!
