Cereal rainbow…that’s something that you might not hear everyday!  But creating this fun rainbow topper is not only easy but perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration!  Since my boys have been little, I’ve always served up a St. Paddy’s Day breakfast.  Nothing crazy, just little holiday touches that make it feel special.  Now that they’re grown, and almost grown…I still do it.  I can’t help myself.  But it is a fun treat for anyone at any age!  So today, I’m sharing how to create delicious rainbow toppers that can top any sweet treat!  I served them on mini cinnamon buns but cupcakes or muffins will work and won’t disappoint any Leprechaun that comes calling. Share the easy end-of-the-rainbow surprise to your family this holiday!

here’s what you need~

pipe cleaners, cut in half

fruit flavored loops cereal

mini cinnamon buns, cupcakes, or muffins

cut your pipe cleaners in half.  since this the topper will be a rainbow, i used an assortment of colors.

bend each pipe cleaner into an arch…

and begin threading the cereal on in any color order you wish!

keep threading until you have a rainbow…leaving a tiny bit of pipe cleaner exposed at the bottoms.

gently insert each rainbow into the tops of your treats!  if you use cinnamon buns, you may need to press a little harder but they will go in!

if needed, bend the rainbows back into shape…then place them on a pretty pedestal or tray!

cereal rainbows for St. Paddy’s Day!

topper tips:  pull off the cereal rainbows before storing any leftover buns (if you have any).  the cereal will take on too much moisture and not stay crisp.
