Christmas is just a few days away and hopefully all your holiday decor is up and ready to go…but if you’re like me, there’s always some little details that I don’t get finished until the very last days!  The good news is that there’s still a little time left to add some holiday cheer to our homes…even if it is getting close to the big day!  If you’ve got Christmas guests arriving soon and need some quick and easy last-minute ideas, I’m sharing some of my favorite decorating details and Christmas decor that might inspire you…AND won’t break the bank!  So take a peek at some of my go-to ideas that are perfectly last-minute EASY!

in-a-pinch holiday decor!

one of my favorite things to have on hand during the holidays is an assortment of sweets…not only are they delicious but they look pretty too!

holiday decor

i stuck with white for a sugary wonderland…but you can choose any color or color-combo you love!

holiday decor

another decorative AND useful decoration–simply pile the fixings for hot cocoa in a pretty tray!  some cute straws and darling mugs will easily make your kitchen look festive!

holiday decor

collections…

whenever you group your collections together, it always makes a wonderful display!  i lined up an array of Christmas houses and bottle brush trees on my mantle this year…and to tie it all together, some wrapping paper in a frame was a fun way to create some inexpensive artwork!

holiday decor

ornaments scattered through the snow add a sparkly pop of color…

holiday decor

a gift tag with an initial sticker makes a great label for the stockings!  and the DIY garland made by stringing wood beads & sections of paper straws together was really inexpensive & fun to make!  i LOVE  handmade decorations and you can involve the entire family in a holiday craft!

holiday decor

a simple garland strung across the cabinet is adorned with more little houses…this time in a string of lights!  and i tried to keep the pops of green throughout the room with more ornaments and wrapping paper…easy ways to tie the room together!

holiday decor

little details…

there are so many small items that can easily add cheer to spaces…i happen to LOVE pillows for that very reason!  one or two can effortlessly give a room a new look!

holiday decor

and you can add a touch of Christmas to your “everyday” items too…like my glass container filled with snow and a single tree!  try a vase or bowl for the same effect!

holiday decor

a garland of bells and a tiny tree in a pot are such simple things…but when combined look so festive on the bar cart!

holiday decor

and i LOVE candles any time of year!  my favorite winter scent looks extra special for the season sitting on a tiny cake stand adorned with a sprig of greenery & some lace..

holiday decor

i use cake stands ALL the time and not just for serving desserts!  my favorite snowman takes center stage on this one & i think he looks pretty cute sitting on a loose pile of wiry greens…

holiday decor

simple centerpieces…

you can make holiday centerpieces out of almost anything!  i topped an aged piece of lumber with greens, tiny ornaments and a trio of silk paper whites…little candles would also be lovely!

holiday decor

best part about the silk flowers…i can keep on enjoying them right into January and beyond!

holiday decor

a tray filled with a small collection can make a wonderful centerpiece too.  i added some pink this season with these bottle brush beauties!  butterfly clips and miniature ornaments fill up the container with more festive color!  it doesn’t take a lot to make a statement!

holiday decor

another small tray holding fresh fruit & greenery is an EASY and fragrant centerpiece idea…i’ll share the simple DIY at the end of this post!

holiday decor

fuzzy stockings…

if you know me well you’ll know i can’t resist anything fuzzy, furry or soft!  so it was a no-brainer for me to hang these adorable, discount store stockings in our bedroom!  never rule out dollar stores for quick, easy AND cute holiday decor!

holiday decor

sending good cheer!

holiday greetings are so fun to send AND receive!  why not make these pretty cards part of your decorations?  a cheerful way to see family & friends all season long in a sweet display!

holiday decor ideas

i hope you found some simple inspiration for your home this holiday…or next!  little details, favorite things, and sweet treats make the easiest and best holiday decor!

happy decorating and have a happy Christmas!

i’ll be back shortly after the holiday…but still in time to bring you some festive New Year Celebration ideas!  stay tuned…

  9. Hi Lori,

Love everything you did in this holiday blog. I especially love the jars in the 2nd pic or the sugary wonderland, the ones with the white scalloped edge tops. Can you please tell me where these are from? We are redoing my kitchen and I would love to order some.

    Thanks
