Tiny Trees & Tags…

So Thanksgiving is behind us now and I’m hoping everyone had a wonderful holiday!  It was so much fun having extended family visitors for a long weekend of relaxing and of course, EATING!  And with the exception of an entire bowl of mashed potatoes getting gracefully dumped on the kitchen floor by no other than yours truly…the rest of our holiday meal went off without a hitch!  Fortunately, I didn’t have one bowl big enough for the gigantic amount of potatoes we prepared and I had to divide them into two…so we were able to ration what was remaining and were ALL still able to have some creamy spuds on our plates!  What’s a holiday without one disaster to laugh about, right?  So Sunday came, guests headed for home, and I can now begin to prepare for Christmas!  I think I’m not alone when I say that even though I love Christmas, I still get a little overwhelmed when it’s time to start decking the halls!  And since I also had house-guests all weekend I feel like I’m getting a late start…even though I know there’s plenty of time!  This year I’m trying to keep the decorations simple, quick, but still totally festive!  I’ll share with you today the easy and cheerful accomplishments of my Sunday afternoon decorating–working with little more than some tiny trees and tags!

add some effortless “merry & bright”…

keeping it simple and easy is REALLY simple and easy!  i love to use gift tags to decorate more than my packages…not only is it incredibly inexpensive but it’s so effortless to attach them to just about anything to add some festivity!  my silver, Charlie Brown tree might be lacking in branches…but not in style with some adorable tags tied on!

i love this canvas variety…

a couple of basic white boxes tied with twine look sweet underneath!  mine really have gifts inside but they wouldn’t have to…they’re pretty inexpensive at any craft store!

this itty bitty tree is adorned with a tiny wood gift tag…i love the simplicity!

i have several tiny trees in my holiday collections.  i think i like them so much since they’re easy to work with and don’t take up much space!  (which comes in handy when it’s time to store them!)  i’m particularly fond of this plastic version from Ikea…and even though i didn’t tie a tag on this one, it looks adorable with the bargain deer lights strung through its branches!

these little bottle brush trees aren’t the expensive kind but look fancy displayed on a covered pedestal…

let’s tie on some more tags…

i stuck a cute holiday card in my metal stand and used some paper garland to easily drape over the top–and i couldn’t resist tying another tag to the bottom!

i used the remaining garland to string over the tops of the picture frames hanging on the wall behind.  one paper garland covered the sign and THREE frames…i got a lot of mileage with this one!

and last but definitely not least, i tied more of my favorite wood tags onto some treat jars in my dining room…

it doesn’t get much simpler than that!

i LOVE these naughty & nice tags!  i think it’s cute to have the “naughty”on the pretzels with the chocolate…

and the “nice” on the healthier version!

…so be nice to yourself this holiday with simple Christmas displays that are effortless AND will keep extra pennies in your pocket!  plus you can recycle those cute tags into what they’re really intended for next year!

tiny trees & tags = big joy!
