Window Garden

One of my girlfriends asked me to make her some garden tags for her windowsill herbs…and I jumped at the chance to create something fun for her mini garden!  She already had a vision of a printed banner pick…which is perfectly fine for plants living indoors.  Knowing the garden markers didn’t need to resist the elements made the material selection open to more options…including  printed paper!  So off to the craft store I went in search of something to create the base of her garden tags that would suit her style and personality!  I love shopping for “unknown” items…it keeps my mind open and is usually a situation of “I’ll know it when I see it”–and I saw it!  Today I want to share this DIY for indoor garden markers…or make one for a cake topper or anything else you can think of! Take a peek at this fun and easy craft…

garden tags

a little card stock and craft sticks are perfect for making little banner tags!  i fell in love with these patterned sticks and i knew when i saw them that they were the ones!  (these cuties from Jo-Ann Fabrics came in several different patterns and colors!)

craft stickssimply print the card stock right from your computer and cut into a desired shape.  these flags are to label the window garden but you could print any word or message for a celebration…and make a topper that would be super cute–possibly perched on a cake!

DIY tag suppliesi chose dark gold ink to compliment the pattern on the sticks and my friend’s decor!

tag suppliesi also wanted the back of the tag to have the same pattern as the front so sandwiching the paper flag between the sticks was an easy way to construct it and give it a finished look!  just glue the flag on the unfinished side of one…

DIY garden tagspread some glue in the middle and place the other stick on top!  i used clothes pins to clamp them tight to dry…

DIY garden tag…it’s as simple as that!  looking so darling in the window garden!
