Easter brings with it a time of celebration, opportunities to create family gatherings, and whimsical traditions for children!  Springtime color is a refreshing change from the winter months that precede the arrival of blossoms!  This year Easter comes early…we will have barely finished with the Irish festivities when the Easter Bunny comes knocking on the door!  If you’re feeling a bit rushed with the holidays this year, you’re not alone!  Today we want to share a sweet decoration that will add some Easter whimsy to your home with ease!  We love to decorate with banners…we use them in our Giggle shows and in our homes for any kind of celebration or holiday!  They’re so festive and easy to make…but also plentiful in many stores making it a breeze to find just the right one for your occasion!  An effortless way to decorate without sacrificing any cute factor!  If you’re pinched for time this season…

In early March I love to find simple ways to sneak in some Irish fun throughout the weeks leading up to St. Patrick’s Day!  Yesterday was March 1st and I decided to treat my boys and overnight guests to a top o’ the mornin’ breakfast…created with very little effort!  Easy, self-serve, and festive morning munchies were waiting to greet early and late risers!  Simple embellishments are all it takes to perk up an ordinary snack or meal…so go ahead and welcome March with a treat!

Bloom!

Winter certainly seems to be hanging on with both hands!  As much as I love all the seasons, winter has definitely over-extended its welcome around here…and for two years in a row!  In my opinion, the best way to remedy the winter blahs is with flowers!  So easy to grab a bunch and not so expensive anymore since great blooms are offered in almost all grocery stores as well as flower markets and green houses!  This time of year I love to pick a pot of bulbs to brighten my surroundings (and mood!) and also fill the house with the scent of spring!  If you’re suffering from the winter blues…a bloom or two might just be the remedy!

Helping Hands

I believe I’m not alone in feeling like I don’t have enough hands to get everything done in a day!  Regardless of circumstances, most of us could use a helping hand around the house with many of those little things that just get overlooked when life happens!  I’m a big proponent of delegating chores to children…nothing crazy, but just enough to participate in keeping our home as orderly as possible!  But as much as I think it’s a wonderful lesson in responsibility, somehow our “family chores” never seem to remain a consistent routine.  Enter the “Chore Board”…a fun and visual way to assign chores to my kids–and the concept came from a television program!  I have to admit that I love to watch re-runs of Supernanny...I think she has brilliant ideas for managing households with kids of all ages!  The “Chore Board” is an inspired version of an idea by Supernanny herself, Jo Frost!  Even though I can’t take credit for this fabulous concept, it’s definitely worth sharing with all the busy mom’s out there that could use a helping hand!

Little Package of Joy

Each winter we receive a little package filled with Giggle joy…a refreshing, new supply of vintage jewelry for all the goodies in the works for our Spring Open House! This little box arriving in the mail is a much anticipated treat…courtesy of my parents who shop in Florida all winter long for these little gems that Sarah and I can hardly wait to get our hands on!  I’ve said it before, but there’s no better description than it’s like rummaging through a mini treasure chest filled with the most unique and wonderful baubles and trinkets!  Well, such a package arrived not long ago and we just had to share a glimpse of the wonder inside…

It’s Paczki Time!

It really snuck up on us this year…it’s paczki time!  I can’t believe that Fat Tuesday is tomorrow and with it comes Paczki Day…a historically traditional day that serves up these goodies with the intent to use up all the fats & sugars in the home before Lent!  Each year the delicious, doughnut-like pillows stuffed with gooey fillings are a much anticipated treat in our home!  Pronounced “ponch kee”…these sugar-coated goodies are available in many bakeries & grocers in areas with Polish communities.  I’ve noticed recently that many bakeries offer shipping so just about anyone can partake in these well-worth-indulging-on pastries!  Unfortunately, this season  seemed to appear out of no where–and since Fat Tuesday is the last day you’ll see these little guys around, it’s sadly too late to place any orders. (take note for next year!)  But if you’re fortunate enough to live where paczkis are popular…don’t hesitate to treat yourself!  Time is running out–don’t miss your opportunity to indulge…whether this is a familiar tradition, or a newly adopted one–

get your paczkis before they’re gone!
