Lovin’ the Red, White, & Blue!

July 3

As I mentioned earlier this week, we’re expecting several visitors over the holiday weekend…and I love having the opportunity to welcome guests with a few festive treats! Fun thing about the 4th of July, all those Memorial Day goodies get to have an encore…one or two fresh items added to the mix and I’ve got the makings for a brand new holiday display! And with multiple guests popping in, I can rearrange my holiday supplies to stretch over the weekend! A simple, patriotic snack buffet is a great way to let guests help themselves to some nibbles & sips at their leisure. For an easy snack table, take some colorful treats and gather them together…

for some red, white, & blue fun!

the desk in my dining room makes a great stand-in buffet…just the right size for a smaller spread and close enough to areas in my home where guests tend to gather

festive garlands (some from the feature on wednesday) and paper firecrackers add plenty of patriotic flare!

firecrackers

these firecrackers came from a kit (found at Michael’s)…go ahead and mix it up a bit by giving it your own personal twist! I made my own embellishments to create a different look…the computer and a pair of scissors work wonders! never feel like you have to use all the supplies a kit offers…and you don’t even have to follow the directions…

make it uniquely yours!

after the embellishments…some nibbles in holiday color were rounded up and displayed making an easy help-yourself buffet!

these bite-size rice crispy treats were inspired by some that i saw in Disney World!

holiday krispies

easy to make…follow the recipe on the box but instead of pressing into a pan, pour them out onto some parchment or wax paper, cool, and roll into little balls…

krispie balls

something cold & sweet to wash it all down…strawberry and grape sodas in vintage bottles make the perfect patriotic sip!

it’s easy to find cute holiday napkins…and the fun, battery operated votive candles shaped like stars add festive (and safe) sparkle to the table! such a cute find at the dollar store!

you could even add some holiday poppers…a whimsical addition! and what’s the Fourth of July without some “ka-boom!”?
