Not-S0-Spooky Halloween is a trend that fits any style!  All ages can enjoy the sweet whimsy and colors in all palettes representing the season.  Today I’d love to share some tabletop fun with plenty of holiday flair combined with elements of early fall.  You can mix and match just about anything for Halloween…no rules!  Grab what you may have on hand and just have fun.  This cheerful table is a blend of everyday dishes, thrifted finds, a little DIY, and goodies from the house & garden!  When planning festivities, never fret about perfection…this holiday is best displayed when it’s NOT perfect!  This also helps takes the stress out of entertaining and allows you to simply enjoy time with your family & friends.  My tips for easy entertaining?  Keep it small, try a potluck, and let what you already have guide the decor theme!   Let’s take a peek at some sweet inspiration for your holiday table…

And now that it’s getting cooler, a warm toasty drink never sounded better! So no matter what time of day you’d like a warm sip…invite your “ghoul-friends” over for a festive “coffin” break!  I’m sharing some fun paper goodies for just such an occasion.  Just grab some simple treats from the bakery, get the coffee percolating and enjoy some holiday fun on the patio!

A mini pumpkin topiary is such a fun and easy thing to create!  Not only is it a darling decoration, but it would make a fantastic gift for your Halloween-loving peeps!  I’m sure you’ve seen larger versions of stacked pumpkins & gourds in urns on front doorsteps.  Inspired by the big ones…this mini variety is easier to handle while crafting, inexpensive, and will be a unique addition to your holiday decor!  Let me share how simple it is…

DIY decorations are so much fun to create at any time of the year…but there’s something about Halloween that makes them extra fun!  I think that this holiday is so whimsical and lighthearted that even a novice DIY-er (like myself) can let their creativity shine with easy projects that have plenty of wiggle-room where perfection is concerned!  Recently my husband and I joined a supper club and I’m dying to host a small soiree this month…so holiday touches will be mandatory for my table!  Let me share some of the decorations I’ll be using…and I’ll show you how to make them too!

Hint of Halloween!

We are officially into my favorite season…fall!  I just love this time of year so much!  It’s a season that hangs onto summer during the day but gives us touch of that crisp, cool air at night.  It offers bountiful harvests of apples and pumpkins and splashes the countryside with vivid color bursting from the trees!  We indulge on baked goods and hot apple cider, participate in tailgates, and bundle up on stadium seats!  Then there’s also that fun little thing called HALLOWEEN!  But unfortunately, all these wonderful opportunities of the season also make it seem to go way too fast!  And since I love this season so much, I just want to enjoy each and every second of it!  With so many school activities and autumn events making life hectic, I decided a couple of years ago to start my holiday decorating at the end of September.  I know this may not sit well with some…even I really would prefer to wait until October 1 to haul the holiday boxes from the attic!  But, to keep my sanity AND fully enjoy the decorations of the season I’ve begun to add some hints of Halloween to our home.  And as the boys get older, I don’t feel the need to decorate with EVERY holiday item we own…I’ve learned over the years that just because we’ve got it doesn’t mean I HAVE to use it!  Each year I can pare it down a bit, pick some current favorites from the storage bins, and on occasion add something new…but keep it simple and fresh!  Today I’d like to share with you how I used old and new items on my mantle to start the holiday season off with a colorful bang!

October is just around the corner…

“Batty” for Halloween!

It’s officially October!  The sky has a different look about it and the breezes are becoming a little nippy…this can only mean that it’s time to go all out with holiday decor!  I rarely wait until October to begin a little of my Halloween decorating…but once the calendar flips it somehow seems o.k. to go all out!  And even though I love Halloween, as my kids have gotten older I find it’s easier to decorate without having to haul out EVERY Halloween decoration we own!  When they were little they would notice if “Mr. Bones” wasn’t hanging in the same tree, or if each and every paper bat made in class wasn’t prominently displayed!  But now it’s easier to simplify my displays…’cause we all know that what goes up eventually must come down!  I was totally inspired by the Halloween photos I shared of the darling decorations created by my mom’s friend…and I went a little batty this year!  And since we have a real bat that pays our back yard a visit each night…it seemed fitting for the holiday.  Take a peek at how I let my home take Halloween flight!
